12 weeks!

according to one of the pregnancy books i have, i am officially out of the first trimester.  however, the other claims that this won't be so until week 14.  i've decided to meet in the middle and say that this is my LAST week in the first trimester!  so here they are, my last bump watch pictures of the first trimester!  wow, i looked tired in these! i also snapped a quick family portrait this afternoon: my boys are so handsome.

guessing girl.

this whole post is ridiculous because it's waaaaaaaaaaay too early to tell yet, but i think i'm having a girl.  i have nothing to back this up, just intuition.  my mom and mother-in-law think i'm having a girl, too.  so does travis, but he swears it's all the power of suggestion. the few people who know i'm pregnant have asked me if we plan to find out the sex.  YES.  i'm too much of a planner to not know, and i figure it's a surprise either way. i hope it is a girl, for travis' sake.  the relationship i have with my dad is amazing, and i wish the same thing for him in 25 years.  regardless of the sex, i know he will be an amazing father. just imagine our dog as a baby.

meet our first child.

this is auggie, our 1 year old chihuahua/italian greyhound mix.  his interests include chewing on his toys, staying warm, pooping, and licking faces.  he sure likes attention.  a main concern of ours is how this little guy will adapt to the role of big brother. my family already had a dog when i was born.  he was a huge doberman named max.  when my mom brought me home from the hospital, she put me down on the kitchen floor, opened my diaper, and let him sniff me.  luckily, the big brute took to me immediately like a mother dog to her puppy.  he remained very protective over me until the last.  i can only hope for the same response from auggie. my best friend, cara sent me a really interesting article on the subject of pets and babies.  it's a subject i will continue to research in the coming months, i'm sure.
